In anticipation of the upcoming Kneebouncers TV series, we’d like to take a moment to appreciate the contributions of composer Robert Hitz.

Mr Hitz provides all of the songs for the series, some of which are scored to action with delightfully creative synchronization.

His music has a joyous, haunting quality that adds a unique personality to the show… and he does it all analog, on a piano, using fingers (and, one would assume, thumbs). Anyone who creates music for video will appreciate the challenge of scoring live to video. In an industry that is almost entirely digital, it’s refreshing to hear music produced this way… but what really sets Robert apart is the sweetness and energy of his compositions, and the emotional depth that that his music evokes.

The music of Kneebouncers has an elemental quality that is appealing to kids – especially mine (pictured here in their first TV appearance). But I found myself drawn to it just as profoundly – as we were producing the series, we always looked forward to hearing the next composition from Robert, and we came to appreciate the effortless collaboration as we worked his track into our Sound Design process.
